-narrator dreams of being taunted by goddess of love, Venus, who is dressed in furs. He visits Severin and notices he has a painting of himself lying at the feet of a woman dressed in furs who has her foot on him and a whip in her hand. The narrator remarks that this image is just like his dream, and Severin gives the narrator a copy of his manuscript, Confessions of a Supersensual Man; this is about Severin's life, detailing his affair with Wanda. Severin becomes Wanda's slave; she wears furs and tortures him; they move to Florence where they can be more openly master and slave; Wanda meets someone she likes better; Severin tires to die by suicide but shamefully returns to ask for money to get home; Wanda ties up Severin and she and her new bf beat him up.
